Jewelry atelier tools are not merely instruments, but the key to the precise shaping of every piece. Through them, our understanding of the materials we work with is revealed. While the artistry lies in the maker's hands, it is clear that without the right tools, the story of each piece could never truly come to life. Every tool has its own unique role, its moment, and its significance within the intricate process of jewelry making.

The Gas Torch – The Heart of the Atelier
The tool without which we cannot imagine working in our atelier is the gas torch. With it, we shape jewelry with precision and intention. Every touch of the flame gives the metal the flexibility and life energy needed for further creation. The flame does not merely heat the metal—it allows us to bend, soften, join, and fuse different elements, while also creating unique textures through reticulation. In our atelier, fire is an essential artistic tool: through it, each piece transforms from raw material into a work of art, with every touch reflecting experience, precision, and a deep love for the craft.
Files, Saws, and Hammers – Shaping with Sensitivity
Once the metal is prepared, hand tools take center stage. Files of various shapes and grits allow for precise shaping of surfaces and edges. With saws, we cut out the desired forms, details, and openings that later define the character of each piece. Through deliberate, thoughtful strikes, the hammer gives the metal structure, volume, and tension. It is in these stages that the direct connection between hand and material becomes most tangible.

Grinding Tools and Rotary Motors – Precision in Detail
For fine shaping and final finishing, we use grinding tools and a rotary motor. These allow us to smooth surfaces, refine forms, create settings for stones, and ensure that every detail is exactly where it belongs. Working with these tools requires exceptional precision, especially when dealing with complex shapes and delicate lines.

Microscope and Stone Setting – Where Light is Born
To see everything with absolute precision, we use a microscope. It gives us complete control over details that are almost invisible to the naked eye. Under the microscope, some of the most important and delicate processes in jewelry making take place, including stone setting. During stone setting, we use specialized engraving tools, pushers, and polishers to gradually shape the metal around the stone. Under magnification, each piece is worked on with great care, allowing us to see even the smallest details and achieve a level of perfection that would be impossible to reach with the naked eye.

Electroplating Machine – Shimmering Finishes in Gold and Rhodium
In our studio, the electroplating machine is primarily used to create contrast and highlight details. Through controlled electrolysis, we can coat each piece with a delicate layer of gold or rhodium, in classic white or elegant black. This process not only adds a striking finish but also brings a subtle patina and contrast that enhance the details and give each piece its unique character.

Polishing and Cleaning
Once the piece is shaped and the stone is set, the final finishing process begins. Using a polishing machine, we smooth the surfaces, enhance the lines, and restore the metal’s shine. Finally, the jewelry is cleaned in a special machine that removes any remaining traces of work and reveals the true beauty of the material.
Sandblaster – Texture and Character for Every Piece
Our sandblaster is like a secret tool for adding personality. By propelling fine abrasive particles at high speed, we can create matte, brushed, or satin finishes that give depth and sophistication even to the smallest details. This technique transforms simple jewelry into pieces with character, making each item a tiny work of art as unique as the person who wears it.

Tools as an Extension of the Hand
At Atelje DR, we don’t see tools merely as instruments, but as an extension of the hand, mind, and senses. Each tool has its own rhythm, its own sound, and its own moment in the process. Together, they create a space where raw metal and precious stones slowly transform into jewelry full of character, story, and the warmth of handcrafted work.
